''I didn’t mean to build a company. I just wanted to build one good desk..''

Kristers Adamanis

It began in a small workshop. A few leftover oak planks. No budget. No investors. Just the stubborn belief that furniture should feel personal.

Kristers was 22. Fresh out of university. Living with a dream, not a paycheck. Like many, he worked long hours at a kitchen table that didn’t care how his back felt. So he built something better.

The first OAKO desk took six months to perfect. Every curve, corner, and cut of oak was refined — not because it was hard, but because it had to feel right. We launched in Denmark. Nothing happened. Then we opened to Europe — and within hours, our first customer hit “Buy.”

What We Believe

OAKO was born in Denmark, shaped by the quiet beauty of Scandinavian light, nature, and form. We believe your environment shapes your energy — and the objects you live with should reflect that. Most desks are made fast — from fake wood, designed to be replaced. We didn’t want that. We build for those who expect more: More from their space. More from their focus. More from the things they bring into their lives.

How We Still Work

We still remember the smell of oiled oak. Still remember running to the workshop when a new order came in. Still remember every early customer’s name. Today, every OAKO desk starts the same way: with patience, passion, and a piece of oak that’s waited its whole life to become something meaningful. We don’t rush quality. We don’t follow trends. We build desks that reflect who you are.

Looking Ahead

The world of work is changing — and we’re here for it. We imagine a future where home offices feel just as intentional as the work done inside them. Where craftsmanship matters more than mass production. Where fewer, better objects define our spaces. At OAKO, we’re not here to scale endlessly. We’re here to grow meaningfully. To stay obsessed with the smell of real wood. To keep building with integrity. To serve the few who care a lot — not the many who care a little. We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: Build desks that feel like they belong to you, not everyone.
